Momentum Investments wins prestigious SAPOA award for RISE student accommodation
25 June 2021: Momentum Investments, together with majority owned subsidiary, Eris, won the “Residential” category at The South African Owners Association (SAPOA) Property Development Awards for Innovative Excellence. This prestigious award acknowledges some of the most remarkable man-made environments that contribute towards South Africa’s skyline.
Every year, an estimated shortage of 300 000 beds sets the new wave of tertiary education students off to a very unfortunate start. “Momentum Investments is very proud to be invested in this asset – supporting a crucial need in the lives of South Africa’s students. Students are of utmost importance to us, and we believe that a healthy living environment can lead to greater academic possibilities,” says Sonja Saunderson, Chief Investment Officer at Momentum Investments.
Saunderson explains that the Rise Student Living holding forms part of the Momentum Investment’s responsible investing mandate, a core belief of the asset manager. “The initiative is aligned to our philosophy that the generation of long-term sustainable returns is dependent on stable, well-functioning and well-governed systems including social, environmental and economic. As part of our Sustainable Development Goals, we have invested clients’ assets in this initiative,” says Saunderson.
Rise Student Living Units on Park in Hatfield, Tshwane is a fully furnished student accommodation right around the corner from the University of Pretoria. The student living philosophy aims to provide accommodation that offers strategic choice of locations, coupled with cutting-edge design and exceptional quality of the buildings.
